P-VINE Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary

Founded in 1975, P-VINE is proud to mark its 50th anniversary this year.
Over the past five decades, we have approached music and culture with unwavering passion, continually introducing diverse forms of music to audiences around the world.

While embracing new values, emerging trends, and the latest sounds, we have always distinguished ourselves from short-lived fads. Our mission has been to pursue truly remarkable and timeless art and music, releasing works through a uniquely curated selection.

The name “P-VINE” originates from the “P-VINE train,” a steam locomotive that carried members of Black communities who worked in the cotton fields in the early 20th century. The P-VINE train appeared in blues songs and became a beloved symbol of the genre.
Fifty years ago, the P-VINE train began its journey here in Japan by bringing the Blues. From there, we expanded into the broader world of Black music—including Soul, Funk, and Jazz—and today, we release music across nearly every genre, both international and domestic: Rock, Hip Hop, Club, Reggae, and many more.
Guided by our commitment to the “alternative,” we now hold an extensive catalog spanning countless styles, and we take pride in being a uniquely distinctive label even on a global scale.

Our activities extend well beyond sound itself.We operate ele-king, a media platform dedicated to alternative music and culture.
We launched VINYL GOES AROUND, a team specializing in analog records, and last year we completed construction of our own pressing plant, VINYL GOES AROUND PRESSING.
At the same time, we released VINYLVERSE, a smartphone app that manages record collections and enables interaction and trading among users.
We have also developed PHYGITAL VINYL, a new form of record that merges physical media with NFTs, offering a hybrid musical experience that connects the physical and digital worlds.

In this way, over the past 50 years, P-VINE has grown into a company that provides music and culture in many forms—not only as a record label—while continuing to change without losing sight of what we value most, guided by the idea of the “The Changing Same.”All of these endeavors are made possible thanks to our artists, partners, and the listeners who love music and culture and continue to support us. We extend our deepest gratitude for your constant encouragement.

We will continue to embrace alternative perspectives, pursue universal and high-quality music, and—neither fully indie nor major—provide works and services with our own independent stance.

■P-VINE BLUES CAMPAIGN 2025

Founded in 1975 with the mission of bringing the appeal of the blues to the world, P-VINE will celebrate its 50th anniversary on December 24, 2025. The year 2025 also marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the blues legend B.B. King.
To commemorate these milestones, P-VINE will reissue Rock Me Baby, a best-of LP by B.B. King, on the company’s anniversary day. In addition, we are launching a Blues Campaign to shine a spotlight on the many masterpieces released over the years.
During the campaign period, customers who purchase eligible titles will receive a special-edition tenugui towel celebrating B.B. King’s 100th birthday, as well as a can badge featuring iconic jacket artwork from P-VINE’s 50-year history—both as a free bonus, one set per purchase!
