2011年はアリゲーター・レコード誕生から40周年！
その栄光の歴史に刻まれた数多くの名演から38曲を選りすぐったアニヴァーサリー・コンピレーション登場！！
■1971 年、ハウンド・ドッグ・テイラーのアルバムを作りたいが一心で、ブルース好きの青年ブルース・イグロアが興した小さなインディー・レーベル、アリゲーター・レコード。以降、数多くのアーティストの名盤を世に送り出し、世界を代表するブルース・レーベルとなりました。
■今までも、20周年、25周年、30周年、35周年の節目にリリースされてきたアニヴァーサリー盤。今回の40周年盤は2000年代以降の作品から多く選曲されているのが特徴です。
■ベテランから若手まで、ストレートなブルースからロカビリーやルーツ・ロックまで、様々なアーティストの個性溢れる演奏が収められています。しかし、この2枚組を通じて、創設以来アリゲーターが変わらず持ち続けた精神を感じることでしょう。70年代の小さなクラブでハウンド・ドッグがやったような、純粋で、衝撃的で、それでいて親密な音楽――“Genuine HouseRockin’ Music”の精神が、ここに収められたどの曲からも伝わってくるはずです。シカゴの鰐が生んだ名曲の数々をお楽しみ下さい。
